I need advice please. I got this good news today from The Austin Film Festival-
We are thrilled to share that your script THE SILVER CUP has been named a Second Rounder in the Comedy Feature category! This distinction places your work among the top 20% of this year’s entries and is a recognition of its strong storytelling and craft.
As a Second Rounder, you are eligible to receive a discount to attend and will also have access to exclusive programming, including roundtables, workshops, and industry lunches. If you attend, your placement and script title will also be printed on your Festival Badge.
Has anyone here in the Lounge also been chosen a Second Rounder with one of their scripts? And if you attended, did you find it personally helpful to your career? I am asking honestly, because I would have to make a large decision, in regards to the money I have currently available.. So thank yoiu for reading this long post and thank you for your advice and thoughts.

Congratulations on advancing! I have been a second rounder in past years. I attended in 2023, while it’s a great experience, it didn’t do anything for my career. I did love networking but it’s a hefty expense. Personally, I will not attend again unless I’m a semifinalist or finalist.

I can’t really give advice, but I want to sincerely congratulate you and wish you the best of luck!
I looked it up a bit, and this is truly a huge achievement — and from what I’ve read, it can be really valuable too. I hope you’ll be able to sort out the financial side, because if you’ve made it this far, it would be a shame to let it go… :)
