Welcome Everyone

Hello People!

Glad you are all here and taking the time to introduce yourself. I'm Michael Fitzer, and I am a moderator here on Stage32 in the Cinematography and Financing lounges. I have worked in the industry for 30 years, mainly in the camera department as an AC, operator, and DP, but also as a producer, with my work appearing on most major networks and many streaming services, including Netflix and Hulu.

That said... I am wrapping up my MFA in screenwriting (November) and had a script recently picked up, which will be produced in the spring of 2026. While I love the tech and artistry of filmmaking, it's interesting being on the writing side, where it all begins.

I'm happy to offer guidance or answer questions if I can. Don't hesitate to reach out and, of course, dive into everything Stage32 has to offer.

Go do great things!

Maurice Vaughan

Congratulations again, Michael Fitzer, Mfa! What genre(s) is your script?

Vikki Harris

Congratulations, Michael Fitzer, Mfa on having your script produced. Always great to hear when a goal is achieved. What is the title of your script?

Patrick Koepke

Hi Michael! Can you share one or two of your favorite takeaways from your screenwriting MFA? And congrats on your script being picked up. That's amazing.

Sandra Correia

I wanted to say hello and congratulate you on your recent accomplishments. I enjoy reading your publications because they are always inspiring and teach us valuable lessons. I appreciate it. Have a wonderful IYW.

Thanks for the responses everyone! The Script is Music Therapy. It's a dramedy, and I'm always hesitant to talk about projects before they're in production simply because, while I've had many successes, I've had many more projects on the brink with money in the bank and actors attached, only to have them fall apart. It happens more than you can imagine. That said, if I didn't mention some of these films in development, you'd only hear from me about every 4 or five years! LOL!

As for my MFA Patrick, the biggest takeaway is making the transition from someone who writes to being a writer. My craft and ability have skyrocketed since starting in the program 30 months ago. One of the best decisions I've ever made. I've knocked out several good scripts (which all still need polishing) and I have even started exploring other forms including, flash fiction, creative non-fiction, and have started writing a YA novel which I never had any interest in but have found that I am really enjoying.

You're welcome, Michael Fitzer, Mfa. I like the title! I'm looking forward to hearing more about Music Therapy when it comes out!

Congrats, Michael! Dramedy is such a rewarding genre when it’s done right.

Looking forward to seeing what you bring to it.
