Comedy/Dramedy is my most natural perspective when I am writing. I do have a thriller I am working on that I really like but it has been more of a challenge to craft transitions and impactful dialogue than I seem to have with my comedy writing.
Kenneth, I like to write comedies. (Yeah, I know...they're some of the hardest scripts to write, but a good comedy can work just as effectively as any drama when it comes to getting us to think about the human condition and the issues we human beings face in this world.)
I am still discovering my favorite genre. Until now, I wrote a drama-fantasy and a romcom, and now I am writing a psychological thriller. I don't have yet a preference, but I have a DNA on all of my stories.
Drama comes most naturally to me, probably because it's been a mainstay in my life for as long as I can remember lol. Other than that, I love whatever allows me to be surreal, too, because that's probably the most fun to write (I enjoy going off on tangents and just not bothering with reality if I'm being honest).
My favorite genres listed in my previous posts mainly consist of grounded but flawed young African/African-American women or girls dealing with relatable problems while also stuck in usual situations (fiction or non-fiction). Some of those conflicts come from either my life experiences or other real-world issues as a way to understand the characters and their point of view, and to inspire and entertain people.
Leonardo Ramirez That's amazing! I LOVE watching all things sci fi / fantasy. I know it takes a while to piece together a logical world with rules, logic, environment, etc. I want to do that one day...I will do that one day.
Mimi Ogbu That's interesting. I'll be putting a project of mine in a couple of weeks that's cut from a similar ilk...but with a lot of razzle dazzle as it's of the superhero genre...about an anti-hero.
I love to write sci/fi/fantasy filled with action and adventure. Imagining and building new worlds allows me to take current issues and explore them in a setting where I make the rules!
Ingrid Wren absolutely! i love that. it’s probably why I’ve enjoyed watching sci fi / fantasy my entire life. Real world themes tied into unreal stories. amazing.
Kseniia Zhuravleva You know, I’d say so. Some of my inspirations for writing come directly from some of the fictional things I’ve seen. I’ve grown up on anime, cartoons, superhero movies, fantasy hits like LOTR, etc. I certainly would agree on that.

Horror, Kenneth Tisdale. It's easy for me to write Horror, and there's a lot I can do in the Horror genre.

Horror mixed with comedy, thriller, fantasy, and drama, because I like experimenting with varying stories.

I’ve noticed I always write horror stories with a monster and a protagonist who has issues with their father :) not sure what that says about me...
Do you prefer writing and watching the same genres

Scifi and fantasy Kenneth Tisdale - primarily because I love worldbuilding.

Science fiction — especially global-scale catastrophes that feel unsolvable and mark the end of humankind.
Puzzle-like stories that explore AI ethics, apocalypse, neuroscience, physics, and philosophy always strike the deepest chords.

I write in Sci fi too but in magical realism and sociological sci fi. I find these genres sell well too.

Pat Alexander Haha! I'd like to write an action project one of these days. In fact, it's more likely that I will than most other genres.
