Looking for a manager to develop my movie script

I've written out a very well done movie script, it's not exactly a screenplay since it doesn't have what everyone is saying minute by minute, though it's well detailed and 3 pages. I heard you can't just submit a script to a production agency/company for legal reasons and you need a manager or agent first. I'm wondering if anyone has suggestions for managers/agents I can contact.

Hi, Aradia Paquette. Welcome to the community. Stage 32 has a blog that'll help you navigate the platform and connect with creatives and industry professionals all over the world. www.stage32.com/blog/how-to-successfully-navigate-the-stage-32-platform-...

I suggest using a photo of yourself as your profile picture. People will feel more comfortable networking and collaborating with you if they know what you look like. You can upload a picture by clicking the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and selecting “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu, then clicking the red button underneath your location and choosing "Update profile picture."

Stage 32's November Community Open House was Tuesday. It'll help you navigate Stage 32 and connect with creatives and industry pros. The recording will be up soon. It's free to watch. www.stage32.com/education/products/stage-32-s-november-community-open-ho...

And it's the last week of Stage 32's November Write Club. It can help you reach a goal, it's a chance to connect with writers, directors, producers, etc., and you can get support for your goal and projects. Week 4's blog came out Monday. Tomorrow's the last day to do the challenges in the blog for a chance to win three prizes! www.stage32.com/blog/november-write-club-week-4-the-art-of-the-pitch-wha...

Managers and agents usually want to see feature scripts and TV pilot scripts. I suggest building a portfolio of feature scripts/TV pilot scripts before looking for a manager or agent. Maybe three scripts.

Hi Aradia. Sounds like what you might have is a synopsis or a treatment, depending on how detailed it is.

Managers/agents seeking new talent generally want to see a completed script so they can assess your screenwriting talent. So they likely won't submit it anywhere even if they are impressed enough to take you on.

Usually, the only people who can submit treatments/synopses to the industry are established screenwriters. And in most of those cases the studio/production company has asked (and probably paid) THEM to submit one for whatever reason.

So your best bet is to write (or have someone else write) the full screenplay and enter it into a few good script competitions. If it does well, someone might ask to read it. Or pitch it here to execs on Stage32 at the Wednesday pitch sessions and see what they say.

But before you do that, come check out "Pitch Practice" on Thursday nights and get great feedback from Jon and Noel on how your story sounds to executive ears. Trust me, it's well worth the $39/month!

Good luck!

Cecile George Yes, it would be categorized as a synopsis too, thanks for the info! I thought that you had to find a manager who could help you develop it further by working with someone else turn it into a screenplay.
