Looking to Connect with Filmmakers Using 35mm Film or 90s/00s Lenses

Hi everyone!

I’m Andre — a creator with a deep passion for the 90s and early 00s filmmaking workflow. I love everything about that era: the texture, the discipline, the imperfect beauty, the entire hands-on process.

I’m currently looking to connect and network with people who still own, use, or have access to 35mm film cameras and 90s/00s lenses, especially anyone experienced with that old-school workflow.

I’m working on a low budget, but I’m absolutely willing to work hard, assist, learn, and put in the time to be part of projects that use these materials. My long-term goal is to collaborate with a filmmaker who’s creating a project using real film and vintage lenses.

I also plan to shoot a music video on 35mm film combined with a 2000s-era camera lens, and then scan the project to 1080×720 to keep that authentic early-2000s look.

So my questions to the community:

– Who here still works with 35mm and vintage 90s/00s lenses?

– Do you know anyone who still uses that workflow?

– And would anyone be open to networking or collaborating?

Thanks so much — I’d love to connect with anyone who’s keeping that era alive.

Hiya Andre Pierre ! I'm a sucker for chemical film too. I have some of the vintage 80's and 90's glass in my crates that I often mount on digital cams, but for the life of me, I can't imagine any source of actual celluloid and a lab to process it, without serious connections and a limitless budget. The last film I know of that was shot (partially) on 35mm chemical film was Master and Commander. Definitely not low budget.

Morgan Aitken Nice to meet you here. I would like to see some of that footage from: Master and Commander, the scenes that were shot in 35 mm film. Its so cool that you have the lenses from the 90s. I love that era a lot. I'm also new here on this platform. Chat Gpt recomanded this platform to me to get closer in touch with people who are script writers, other actors, singers, songwriters, producers, people who might have vintage lenses, 35 mm film and 35 mm film camera's. I'm definitly making my contections here as possible.

ChatGPT is a wise e-friend to recommend this platform (and this lounge) Andre Pierre ! And here's the thing, and don't tell anyone I said this: the various AIs out there search through the reams of data, advice, and tech knowhow on Stage 32 way better than this platform's own search function. Good to have you onboard the good-ship Stage 32!
