Hi! I've made a few of these Introduce Yourself Weekend posts in the past, but it's been a while. I'm a screenwriter based in Montreal (also known to produce, perform and do other odd jobs as needed).
I mostly write more light and comedic fare (think sitcoms, rom-coms, etc.), but I'm challenging myself with my current project, which is more a horror/thriller feature with some dark comedy mixed in. It's also the most disability-focused thing I've ever written (I'm disabled myself, for context), which has been an interesting change of pace in its own way.
It's been a pretty good year of little baby steps in the right direction for me. I had my first actual paid gig as a writer, doing some contributing writer work for season 2 of an obscure little satirical news show called "The Squeaky Wheel: Canada". I just registered to attend Prime Time 2026, and am nervous about it. So, if anyone's been before or is going this year, let me know!
Cheers, and happy holidays!

Jonathan Fournier Hi Jonathan, re-welcome : ) And Montreal! That's the place to be now, lots of projects are going to shoot up in Canada. And amazing, stretching your limits and getting into different genres always helps the imagination castle grow and expand. I also have been writing beyond my drama and comedy genre go-to's, and have been venturing into holiday family films, rom coms, and revising a thriller I wrote...three years ago, lol. And success in Prime Time 2026, wow! Best of everything for you in 2026 : )

Hi Montreal! Your last name looks French, so have you lived in Montreal your whole life? I'm an Ontarian, but I often visited Montreal with my grandparents in the summers. You mentioned you write mostly comedic fare. Within that genre, are you mostly working on sitcoms and TV shows or features?

Thank you everyone for the warm (re-)welcome! It's very touching. Tamara Green to answer your specific questions: I was born in North Bay, ON, but have been a Montrealer for about 95% of my life at this point :). And I do tend to alternate between TV and film comedy, probably giving a bit of an edge to TV at this point.
