I am here for inspiration and to see other creatives in different industries.
I am just a beginner starting my journey through different fields of creative media. So far, my mind is a bit overwhelmed to see such amazing people get out there and follow their artistic direction. For now, I will enjoy my time on this platform and browse everyone's inspirations, ideas, and achievements.
I started writing for fun and I would be happy if anyone can reach out and give me advice on how to get started. I like hearing people's journey. Don't hesitate to comment.
The only idea I have started is on Wattpad, although I am a bit hesitant to share the link until I get a full idea. I know I will soon release it and I will share it on this platform in hopes of advice on how to improve my writing.
Thank you all!

Hi, Harriet Villegas. Welcome to the community. You'll definitely find inspiration on here. Stage 32 has a blog that'll help you navigate the platform and connect with creatives and industry professionals all over the world. www.stage32.com/blog/how-to-successfully-navigate-the-stage-32-platform-...
Stage 32 had a Community Open House last week. The recording is up now. It'll also help you navigate Stage 32 and connect with creatives and industry pros. www.stage32.com/education/products/stage-32-s-december-community-open-ho...
I suggest using a photo of yourself as your profile picture. People will feel more comfortable networking and collaborating with you if they know what you look like. You can upload a picture by clicking the gear symbol in the top right-hand corner and selecting “Edit profile” in the drop-down menu, then clicking the red button underneath your location and choosing "Update profile picture."

Hey Harriet, it's nice to meet you! Welcome to Stage 32! This is a great community full of creatives passionate about filmmaking. Drop into some of our discipline lounges to chat and get to know everyone.
We have a Community Open House every month, hosted by our Head of Community, Ashley Renee Smith. This month's is on January 28 @ 12:00 p.m. PT. You can register here: https://www.stage32.com/education/products/stage-32s-january-2026-commun...
Stage 32 has a lot of great resources for creatives, but the platform is massive so if you get the chance to watch the community open house, do yourself that favor. Ashley does a great job of showing folks around the site. It's really helpful.
There are so many talented people here to learn from. Be sure you drop into some of the lounges to chat, ask questions, get to know people. Starting to grow your network early is a seriously smart move.
I'm so glad you've joined us! I can't wait to see what you create!

Welcome to the community, Harriet! That's wonderful that you've started writing. That's the first step. Have you checked out the independent film school? Ela Thier has a lot of free trainings throughout the year for screenwriting, producing and directing.

Hi Harriet Villegas, welcome! I’m Ashley, Head of Community here at Stage 32, and I’m really glad you spoke up. What you’re describing is something almost everyone feels at the beginning, excitement mixed with overwhelm, especially when you’re surrounded by people who seem further along. Browsing, observing, and soaking it all in is a completely valid and smart first step.
Since you’re just getting started, I’d really encourage you to spend some time in the Screenwriting Lounge (https://www.stage32.com/lounge/screenwriting). You’ll learn a lot just by seeing how others talk about craft, process, and growth. If you’re interested in writing more seriously, there’s also a free month available for the Writers’ Room, which can be a great, low-pressure way to explore resources and community support (https://www.stage32.com/writers-room/plans-vip).
Because you mentioned feeling a bit overwhelmed and wanting advice on where to begin, our Education Team is a fantastic resource. You can email them at (Edu@Stage32.com), tell them where you’re at creatively, and they can recommend specific classes or webinars from our 3,000+ hours of education that are beginner-friendly and aligned with your interests. When the time comes to think about goals or next steps, the Success Team is also available at (Success@Stage32.com) to help you understand pathways and opportunities.
I’d also love to invite you to our January 2026 Community Open House, which is completely free and designed especially for newer members who want help navigating Stage 32 and meeting people in a friendly, welcoming setting:

You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be, Harriet. Take your time, stay curious, and don’t rush yourself. Your journey is unfolding at the right pace, and this community is here whenever you’re ready to take the next step.
