I made a connection on here in the hopes of expanding my network of fellow professionals. Unfortunately, during what started out as a friendly exchange, our conversation degenerated until I was encountering abusive language from this fellow Stage 32 member. We're all working hard, many times doubting ourselves. While congratulations and praise is due to someone when they achieve any degree of success in this very difficult career, one's relative success is never an excuse to hold themselves higher or superior to anyone else. It is a very arbitrary and capricious industry that has little with how skilled you are at your craft. If you get a lucky break, congratulations, you deserve to celebrate. But that's never an excuse to look down on or be abusive to others who may not have achieved your level of success. No matter who you are, if you do not like somebody or are having a bad day, don't engage them. Find another way to vent your anger. Put it in your characters in your play. They won't get hurt in real life. I wanted to report this person and I did to one of the Stage 32 people but Stage 32 is a very kind and embracing community and that means we should never take advantage of that to be abusive to our fellow creatives, screenwriters who are fighting incredible odds to tell a story that millions and billions of people need to hear. Let us respect one another or find another place on this wide web to vent our venom. Thank you.

Don't let whoever was rude to you get you down. Often it stems from insecurity or jealousy. Wishing you nothing but success Marc Ginsburg !

That’s really unfortunate to hear. Creative spaces should be about respect and growth. Wishing you strength—and better interactions ahead.
