Have you ever been on the fence about what project you would shoot next?
I’m just starting and have written 4 horror-comedy shorts. Each one focusing on what I need to learn and add to my knowledge before shooting a feature.
How did you decide for yourself which to shoot first?

I chose cheapest to make, least locations & actors etc. Kept learning curve mistakes low cost. If cost of each script was approx same, I chose the one with the most universal moments, or the highest audience age ranges. I also consider themes, within the horror genre. What is the market looking for right now? Producer’s budgets, especially UK Indie, are cut to the bone. I’d use for a Proof Of Concept, 4 quadrant age range, micro cost & thematic so that the audience gets story straight away. Drawn out set ups, Eg couple had a tragedy, go away to recover & bad stuff unfolds, are not popular now in spec pile. I’d go for the most “contained” & “first page bang.”

Hi, Bryce Gardner. I've been on the fence about what project I'll write next. I pick the project I'm most excited/passionate about or the project that'll be cheap for a producer to make.

Thank you Maurice and Debbie. some great insights there and things for me to ponder.
I’m leaning toward least complicated to more challenging. My downfall is I’m excited about all my projects. lol

Maurice, I think I’m going with a guy who is accident prone with bloody consequences each time. Think of it as splatstick. more comedy-horror than horror-comedy. No real audio to deal with, and shot outside in daylight.. This one would be focusing on make up and foley/ambiance music.
