I'm Karlyle Tomms. I'm about to turn 71, but I've been writing all my life. I started screenwiting in ernest in 2024 and my first two screenplays were award-winning in 2025. My goal, other than writing for all the days I have left, is of course to see my work produced with quality for the screen. My favorite movie of all time is Gandhi. My second favorite movie of all time is The Color Purple (the original), and of all the movies on my top ten favorites list, about half of them star Robin Williams. The Fisher King comes in around my third favorite movie of all time. I love stories that make me think, stories that inspire me, stories that touch my heart and that is exactly what I try to do with my writing. Blessings all, KT.
HI Karlyle, good to connect! The Writers' Room is worth exploring if you haven't already — it's built for writers who are serious about their craft and their career, with live industry webcasts, access to working professionals, and a community of writers at a similar level. There's a free month available: https://www.stage32.com/writers-room/plans-vip
Also worth knowing — Stage 32 regularly posts Open Writing Assignments from producers and executives actively looking for writers. With your contest track record, you're exactly the kind of voice they want to hear from.
What are your scripts about? Would love to know what you're bringing to the page.
Thanks, Geoffory Faugerolas. I am in The Writer's Room, but I may not be using it as well as I could. My first screenplay is about a biracial and abused transgender girl learning to cope with life in the 1980s. My second is about a lesbian girl and her partner. She has to fight the state of Texas for custody of their son after her partner (the biological mother) commits suicide. That is set in the 1990s. Right now, I'm working on a screenplay based on a friend's true story of growing up with a violent and dangerous father in the 1960s. As yet, I haven't worked on any current-day stories, but I have lots of ideas, including a couple of Sci-Fi.
Hey, Karlyle Tomms! Heck yeah, Robin Williams! I also love comedy and strive to include heartfelt philosophies into my work.
