I’m Michael Schulman. I’ve spent 20+ years on the studio and agency side—evaluating submissions for CAA, working as a lit agent at ICM, serving as a creative exec at Disney, TriStar, and Orion, and running development as VP for Michael Mann.
Currently, I’m a Senior Story Analyst for Amazon MGM Studios, where I evaluate submissions from major agencies and production companies, recommend projects to senior executives, and write studio notes to help writers get scripts production-ready. Having previously done the same for Netflix, I know firsthand what streamers are looking for in commercial, viable material.
Here on Stage 32, after 200+ consultations, my goal is simple: give writers direct, actionable feedback to get their scripts ready for real industry consideration.
What are you working on this weekend?

My script "Nobody's Heroes" was the 2026 grand prize winner in Emerging Screenwriters Action & Adventure Screenplay Competition. So now I'm collaborating with ISA to get that script to the level where it would interest professionals like yourself.

Michael Schulman It's fabulous to have someone with your credentials on Stage32 for screenwriters (like myself) to receive feedback from someone who knows exactly what the industry is looking for. In the meantime, I'll be working on my feature, The Mask, about an autistic doppelganger who gets framed for a crime - just trying to ensure my character comes across as authentic.

Hi Michael! Are you available for a consultation? I have a project that I'm pitching as my debut feature for my newfound independent film production company, Surreabral Studios.

That’s an impressive perspective to bring to writers, Michael. After seeing material from both the studio and agency sides, what’s one issue you still see most often in otherwise promising scripts?

So happy to see you jumping into IYW, Michael Schulman! Your presence here is such a wonderful reminder to our community about the depth of professional expertise available on Stage 32, and I have no doubt writers reading this post are going to be genuinely excited to know you’re here. The writers who’ve had the chance to work with you have received the kind of direct, actionable feedback that genuinely accelerates careers, and I love that you’re so intentional about helping members get their material ready.
To answer your question: this weekend I’ve been balancing IYW with celebrating my husband’s 34th birthday! Dinner with a friend last night, duckpin bowling today, and tomorrow he’s smoking a bunch of chicken wings with one of his buddies coming over to hang out. A wonderful weekend of community, both on Stage 32 and off!

Michael Schulman impressive and really nice to see you in here.
I’m working on selling my latest feature screenplay Inner World. It’s a psychological dramas giving an intimate look into childhood traumas and the healing and therapy process. It is my goal to write several of these with different type of childhood traumas, environment and character type.

Hi Michael, nice to 'meet' you! I've already trimmed my second enemies-to-lovers screenplay from 196 pages down to 135, but I got a bit stuck with it, so it's resting for now. I've also started polishing and tightening my third one, though that one's only around 140 pages, so it's a bit easier to work with. I've still got 1-2 ideas floating around in my head that I need to get down on paper at some point too.

Hi Michael, working as a lit agent must be nice. I wanted to be a lit agent but I could only manage 25 watts. Guess I am just not bright enough. However, I am a songwriter, scriptwriter and library founder. I am the gentile founder of the Vilnius Jewish Public Library in Lithuania. Somebody had to do it.
