Hello, Stage 32-ers! Hope y’all are doing some amazing things this summer! I’m Kay Ross, writer, filmmaker, but most of you know me as the Writers’ Room Producer on Stage 32. I’ve been with the team for over six (6) years now, and one of my absolute FAVORITE things to do is finally meet people I’ve known online in person. What a thrill!
For the past few years, it’s been my sincere pleasure to host the Stage 32 HollyShorts Short Film block on Opening Night. It’s particularly special because we are a global platform and we inevitably find incredible filmmakers from all over the world. This year, three of our six films were even multi-lingual! So cool! Cheers to Pat and the contest team for finding these gems!
For me, it’s a great way to show up for filmmakers because during their post-screening Q&A, I ask one general question and at least one specific question so we can really geek out about the art and the dedication to the craft. What is a really great question you’ve been asked during the promotion of one of your films? Did you learn anything cool during your film festival circuit? I’d love to hear your stories, too!
For now, I have to get going as I’m hosting tonight’s Script Coverage Workshop in the Writers’ Room. I highly recommend it if you’re struggling to revise your current script draft!
