I DOP'ed as well as directed this little short. Not sure I want to do that too often as I prefer to concentrate on working with the actors more. Please feel free to leave comments. https://vimeo.com/50902748

Looks really good to me. The camera work and lighting all work toward the theme goal. At the beginning, in the bar the editing pacing was a bit too tight for me because I like a slight lag tween cuts to give it more a film feel rather than a cut for a commercial feel. Didn't notice that after about 1 minute or less maybe. As far as the script, I mostly like it-the end was a bit harsh for me.
Thanks Laura. Ending is a bit harsh for me to, or not to say harsh but not enough material to justify the way it ends, if that makes sense. It's a little disconnected but just about makes it.
If I may be blunt the end "feels a bit American". I am American but I don't always like the revenge mentality of common American films and so that is what I meant by harsh. I watch a variety of films so I can get my share of American style, Int'l, etc. A good film that was violent and thoughtful but did not end as a revenge film Was Eastern Promises by Cronenberg-love that film. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0765443/
Great film, love the twist, but I was waiting for the 'Packshot' at the end to warn us against rape and strangers met in a pub.....so I suppose it was a little predictable. Great directing though, superb acting and nice music.....what music?

What music? If you mean who composed it, I did.
Thanks for the praise by the way. Was it predictable that she switched drinks on him?
@Samuel, you're right, she wasn't drugged but she was leading him on and pretending to be positive about him. Wasn't that clear?
@Laura, thanks for the Cronenberg comment although "HISTORY OF VIOLENCE" I think was better though not really a revenge story.
hah! Jonathon! ....I was only joking about the music as it was very well done,so well done that it was hardly noticable, meaning the pub background music etc,my compliments! I found the switch very clever, the explanation with a flashback, brilliant twist! But the end was a little harsh,I suppose a bunch of detectives and a police inspector might have been better, she being an undercover agent....just as if it was for drugs or arms dealing. You could have stumbled on a new concept for a Janice Bond film, what, who,'Janice Bond'? Loved your camera work, tight and efficient.
@Samuel. I agree, achieving story rules, or as some call it, the story bubble, is difficult in a short film. Is it difficult to think a lesbian might be smart enough or even devious enough to trick him? Personally I did have some problems with the script and the problems about when the drug actually kicked in and so on did worry me a little but it can be explained away. Anyway this production was pretty off the cuff so personally I forgive some of it's little foibles. Glad the film is generating some solid comments though.
Little suggestion Jonathon....put your film into your reels, this way everyone can see it!
Enjoyed it immensely! Didn't see the end coming, nice twist.
Thanks Keith
I have a few short film scripts you might be interested in. Adventures of a Pearl Handled Switchblade Knife, Metamorphosis and An Improbable Alibi. Let me know if you're interested. Each have a twist that might interest you.
Thanks Keith. At the moment not doing any new work other than paid. Need to keep the bank happy . . . or should I say credit card companies. So for the moment the only unpaid work I'm doing is on the feature film which I plan to shoot 2013. Psychological Sci-Fi called Cuckoo. I'll be posting project on here at some point as I'll need a bunch of London collaborators on the production and international collaborator with some post and VFX.

We Brits do love the occasional bit of dark rolled in with a dose of irony. And I must say Thai Todd is a great name. Such a mixture. Be sure to check out the other little short shot in one evening with a couple of friends. http://www.stage32.com/lounge/directing/Trial-and-Error-experimental-short
Always!
BRAVO
Thanks Steve
