J. Bader, Senior Partner, MRPwebmedia

I am a media producer, writer, and photographer. Our company specializes in video and sound design production. We released our first e-book on marketing called “What’s The Big Idea? A Guide To Creative Marketing Communication.” Everyone, no matter who they are or what they do, needs to understand how marketing and branding works, and this applies as much to actors, writers, directors, and producers as much as anyone. If there’s one thing actors and directors understand, it’s how to use emotion and psychological persuasion to deliver a performance that can bring tears of joy or sadness to the eyes of an audience. Yet in this hyper digital age everyone falls victim to the false promise of solving human issues with technical solutions. In the 1992 Robert Altman movie “The Player” a new studio executive, Larry Levy (played by Peter Gallagher), suggests that they are paying too much for scripts, and that anybody can put together a movie concept by just looking at the headlines in the paper; to which Griffin Mill (played by Tim Robbins), the executive in charge of hearing pitches and selecting writers, replies sarcastically, …“an interesting concept… to get rid of the writer from the artistic process. If we can get rid of the actors and the directors, maybe we’ve got something.” We all know, you can’t get rid of the actors, nor can you get rid of the audience, and what they have in common is that both are emotional beings, governed by hardwired instincts. The art of acting, writing, and directing is about tapping into those reptilian instincts and using them to deliver a special performance. I invite all Stage 32 members to check out the free preview of “What’s The Big Idea? A Guide To Creative Marketing Communication.” (http://store.blurb.com/ebooks/408096-what-s-the-big-idea) that may just help put how you promote yourself and career into perspective.
