HI Lyse, The Scoggins Report is great. It was the coverage and the posting of scripts that I was most curious about. It seems like a good concept of using a point system to decides who gets posted. I was interested if people found it more useful for seasoned screen writers or if it's a good forum for those of us trying to break into the business. Lastly if anyone has had a script posted on the web site what was the outcome?
I realize this is an ancient thread, but it's the first one that popped up when I searched for Spec Scout. I just submitted my first completed screenplay to Spec Scout yesterday. I'm a little anxious about the process. On one hand, I spent a LOT of time studying screenwriting, and even more writing, then rewriting some more. So, I have developed a deep-seated love for my project. But as I said, this was my first screenplay. I also (kinda...) want the readers to give me a TON of constructive criticism, so that I can make my script as good as it can possibly be. Anyway, I'll keep you all posted, when I get my evaluation.
Hi Alex, I've met an exec at Spec Scout. From what I know, their readers typically work from a home office, so to your point, an unbiased "clean room." I don't know how they recruit readers, but I do know that they have a true training process for staffers, and they care about Quality Control. All that said, as I'm sure you've seen from my posts, I think you get what you pay for.
Great site for writers, great site for the industry. Mr. Scoggins has really done a great job over the years with his report and his industry database. Mr. Gertmenian is a really funny guy who's made a nice exposure site for writers and talent-finding site for people in the industry. Kudos to both.
I was wondering about this as well. Any comments or feedback on this site would be great.
I have not but I would be interested to hear some feedback on them.
