"Batfleck"

Everywhere I read, everyone seems to be up in arms over the decision to have Ben Affleck play Batman in the upcoming 'Batman vs Superman'. I would like to hear everyone's perspective over this. Personally, I don't care. I'm just curious as to how the final product will turn out.

People are nuts about him. Personally I think he'll do a good job.

I, myself, am capable of removing an actor from their political or religious views when I see them in character on the screen. I will wait for the film when it hits theaters to form my over-all opinion.

As a big superhero fan, I try not to let their previous work control the impression that I have of their acting talent. It informs the opinion for sure but as a writer I always see a bad performance as the fault, in part, of the writer.

Ben Affleck as Batman / Bruce Wayne? For me, it'll boil down to which vision of the character is embedded in the script. Most people seem to think it's going to be the retired-after-decades-of-crime-fighting "Dark Knight". I think that's what's generated much of the furore over not picking Michael Keaton. If the film contains a unique / different version of the Batman, I don't have a problem with the casting. After all, when Keaton was cast initially (for the very first film), a similar row erupted.

@Des, I remember (Keaton). And I agree with you. It all depends on the final product, the film/performance. I actually am very interested on how Batman can "compete" with Superman (from a comic geek's point of view. LOL). Interesting to see what unfolds.

I have to admit, I was a little skeptical when I heard Michael Keaton was playing the initial Batman. After seeing his two performances, I do like his version of the character.
