Intro...am i in college again? uh-oh lol Hello all....

First and foremost I am a mother, single, devoted, and LOVE films! I am very independent and self-reliant but when it comes to screenwriting I am all about collaboration and absolutely LOVE negative feedback! I can do a major tune-up on most cars and I have a master's degree in English even though I have no idea how that actually happened. Ever since I saw the Exorcist at 4 I have been hooked on horror but I also love sci-fi and that is typically where I focus in my screenwriting though I also like to explore other areas and I will be working on a period piece based on the Texas City Disaster of 1947. So I am not limiting myself to a single genre nor do I want to limit my creativity. I love being able to learn from other people and adore those who are willing to be brutally honest with my work or even me. I can only learn from my mistakes and I wholeheartedly believe in paying it forward with generosity. I have a very realistic outlook on the industry and I am only looking to be a part of the creative process. I believe that a reputation should be earned and nothing should be taken for granted including those wonderful assistants who bend over backwards for their actors and actresses, managers who dedicate time and effort dealing with those brutal times of writer's block or self doubt of their writers. I believe that credit should be given to those who help in even the seemingly mundane aspects of the industry. I hope that I will eventually find representation, a manager, who will see my potential and I hope that I will be able to make a living being creative so I can take care of those who I love the most, my family. BTW I have a wicked perverted sense of humor and love to enjoy life! I am looking forward to meeting and networking with all kinds of people. Please feel free to message me any time for any thing. I will always reply...though it may not always be what you may expect. =)

Hi Rachel, Where are you based? I'm married to a writer so understand some of the difficulties xx

Richard Older

I thoroughly enjoyed your introduction. I liked that you gave props to assistants. They are definitely overlooked in this industry yet really make the whole industry run. Anyway, I'm also a writer and would love to talk sometime about writing. Nothing gets me more excited than conversing with other creative folks, be it actors, directors, producers, other writers, etc.

Ciao Rachel, From a fellow writer. Having a child, your education, and your ability with a wrench... If you are a football fan, you'd be too good to be true... lol. What genre do you write in?

Rachel Meyers

Helen- I live outside a very small town called Yucca in AZ. It is pretty centrally located between LA and Las Vegas. So the trip to LA would be about 5 and a half hours and 2 hours to Vegas. It makes it nice as I am far away enough to avoid the cities but close enough to be able to make the trip. Though it all still comes down to having the finds and a car that will make it =) Richard- I am the same way. I am always full of questions and love to see as many perspectives as I can. Though I am not much of a reader unless it is something I like, I love to write. Dave- Football isn't really my thing but I would totally get into rugby. The less protection the better. I want to see the blood and skill of a person. Though I certainly wouldn't pass up the chance to see an MMA fight! The girls can be vicious fighters, even more so than then guys. I hate when the guys use their wrestling abilities to just roll around on the ground the whole time. I much rather see them on their feet landing blows! I tend to write more in the genre of horror and sci-fi. Thank you all for commenting and it is nice to meet you all!

I've never been to Arizona - been to LA, Washington and San Antonio. Dorset, where I live now, is on the British south coast so fairly sunny (for the UK). Beach parties are often arranged and it isnt too far from London xx

Pamela-Michelle Giovanni

Hi Helen I think we may be FB friends. Your name seems familiar. Best wishes. Pamela-Michelle

Helen Stirling

I think we might be Pamela-Michelle - I found your acting page and liked it xx

Pamela-Michelle Giovanni

Thank you Helen. So sorry for the late reply I am trying to find my way around here. Lol

Helen- I have been all over the US and lived all over the US but I must say where I live now is quite a bit hot for me. I am hoping to move eventually and maybe if I make that transition from aspiring screenwriter to working screenwriter I will be able to! I would love to travel outside of the US and I have a few friends that just moved to London from Dublin. I love to travel!

Rachel Meyers

I would love to come to Canada!!! All the best people are from Canada! LOL. I hope one day i can move to either Canada or Australia LOL I know its strange but I really do. The people are just amazing...like you! =P

Helen Stirling

I still have relatives in Canada Kathryn. My grandfather moved his entire family out just before the turn of the previous century. He then got posted to the UK during the 1stWW and married, and after the war moved to Dover with his immediate family.
