What is it you love about movi…

What is it you love about movies? Replies from filmmakers Spike Jonze, Darren Aronofsky, Nicolas Winding Refn, Pedro Almodovar, & more. [goo.gl/esbdq][1] And to the network: What is it YOU love about movies? [1]: http://goo.gl/esbdq

To create fictional worlds and character and making the viewers believe that it could all be true. And by doing so a film has the amazing power to make someone forget all about own their lives and worries and get completely sucked into someone else's life for at least 90 mins. At least, that it what film does for me and why I love watching some films over and over again!

I wish we could "like" other people's comments on topics. You would get one from me Kim. It reminds me of Steve McQueen's reply to the question: "It can be one of the best experiences you can have. You know, I've been in cinemas and I've been sitting down and I've looked at things in front of me and been totally moved. If you can be moved by a movie, if a movie stirs you, gives you goose pimples, makes you feel different when you walk outside onto the street and see daylight, that's something unique. There was a wonderful old cinema called the Lumiere, it was underground, like a whale's stomach. You used to go down those stairs into this cave and the movie would finish and you'd climb the stairs into the light and noise of the street...That is an amazing thing to me, that feeling of pure inspiration. It's just magic."

Wow! Thanks for sharing Steve McQueen's reply to the same question. I wasn't entirely sure if I was describing my love for films clearly enough and Steve McQueen's words is spot on to how I feel about it. One of my favorite films that made me fall in love with films and realising how much they can take you away from your own worries for just a little while is Labyrinth. I watch this film at least once a year for the past 20 years as it reminds me how my passion for film started. So what is your answer to this question?

Edwin Adrian Nieves

It's a special thing when a film suddenly takes hold of you and reveals some truth or beauty of life, or even emphasizes it. A film can make you feel like you are still discovering the world or reaching a greater awareness of it.

I love the way different movies take on meaning and substance, to the point that they address a human need. Feeling a bit down? Watch one of Steve Martin's movies or other comedies. Want a philosophical treatment on closed societies? My first favorite movie was the original Logan's Run but the Matrix will do as well. And little else can compare to old movies for a timeline of society, from The Ten Commandments to western gunslingers to Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. In short, what's not to love?
