Hi Stage 32!!!

My name is Alex and I joined stage 32 a couple months back but didn't use it very much. I just remembered I had an account so I explored the website and app, and want to get back into it. So here is my story: I am 14 and am into filmmaking and photography, of course as hobbies now, but I want to be a filmmaker when I grow up. I make videos to practice filmmaking now. I also try to learn form other people too, I watch Film Riot on YouTube and watch some movies more than once to try to spot techniques that I learned from the New York Film Academy camp I attended over last summer. My most recent film was entered into the White House Film Festival and received honorable mention. What are your thoughts? What should I do to help my career if being a filmmaker?

Matt Pacini

The #1 skill that will best suit being able to make a living as a filmmaker, is WRITING. Believe it or not, all the technical stuff is the easy part, and where all the competition is. And none of it is worth anything if it's not serving a well-written story. Spend 90% of your time learning to write, and 10% learning to shoot, edit, etc.

Richard "RB" Botto

If you're making videos, you already are a filmmaker. Just keep learning, honing, and practicing.
