Richard Botto mentioned character honesty in another post, which I strongly believe in. I thought that would make a great topic. To me, honest characters create their own path through the story, are true to themselves, and aren't manipulated by their creator. What do you think? For what it's worth, I've also written much about it, as one of my favorite topics. http://visualwriter.com/ScriptDr/Advanced/Honest.htm

My opinion, "honest" characters lie from time to time...

I believe what RB was talking about in the other post was being honest as a writer. He wrote, "To write is to find honesty in every character. If that honesty includes swearing, swear away." Which to me meant to be true to the character you are writing. To explore and understand them. To not "sugarcoat" things. To be authentic and truthful. To delve into a character and go down that rabbit hole.

Indeed, I too think he was saying we should be unapologetic in our presentation of the characters we need to tell our stories.
