…that's the meaning of my company's name "OutreMer Film". The word "OutreMer" actually refers to a world "beyond the sea" and is a bit of an ancient way to call the Levant (which today is referred to as the Middle East). But so am I, a bit ancient, at the age of 46 and with many things already accomplished. Yet I can't stand to be bored and won't stand still to not bore others (if you're bored by all this go ahead and write me a complaint). So I am going ahead and do the only thing I am able to do - telling stories, doing films. And while I like doing this in the Middle East, our latest project is located in the depths of East Africa and I guess it won't be the last one… I won't tell you what I did until now, since neither you nor me can't change anything about it anymore. What I will tell you is what is happening right now: we are finishing our last feature documentary JAMMING ADDIS about music in Addis Ababa, filmed back in January in Ethiopia, one of the most beautiful countries of the World; researching and outlining another film with a far more controversial subject (suffice it to say that it takes place in 1979 and will shed a new light on the motives behind 9/11); preparing a docu-drama about a French Jew who barely survived the Buchenwald concentration camp as a kid and became Germany's biggest sex-club-owner because, as he said shortly before he died last year, like this "I take my private revenge over the Germans every time they f**k"... Whith my two partners Herbert Gehr (producer, dramaturge) and Henrik Sauer (DP) we built our company OutreMer Film's reputation and now are expanding it. So apart from the projects above, we are also developing two of our "dream projects" for television series: a high-paced political thriller between Europe and the Middle East that mix the 70s thriller atmosphere with today's high-tech espionnage, and a gripping thriller-horror-mystery about an entire village and its surroundings whose inhabitants are is being used as lab-rats in a "Lost" meets "Persons Unknown" kind of perverse experiment. Apart from all this, below is a link to the teaser of our last project JAMMING ADDIS. Let me know if you know if you like it. Did you really read it until here? Then go ahead and contact me. Who knows what comes of it. Cheers, Dirk http://vimeo.com/87220697
