Re-writing my very first script and re-formatting it. It's like the 9th time and still there's too much blabber in it! It's amazing how much I over write. I guess as an actor I like to give my people lines.
Well the good news is it made it by 2 evaluators and went to the finals of a major screenwriting contest. This mistake only emboldens me as I improve on it. They obviously overlooked my writing and saw the story's potential. What do you want for my first attempt? Now my third.....
Interesting, but I have a tendency to over explain. Although I believe talking has to be somewhat in to the dialogue because that's the way people talk in life, this isn't my problem. Thanks for the video.
I have no financial interest in this workbook. But having been threw a lot of writing training when I lived in LA, I do recommend getting the $38 maybe less but it seemed expensive at the time by Marilyn Horiwitz called , "How to write a screenplay in 10 weeks work book". In my opinion her work book helps get your screen play straight all the way to the end . Net result, a story with a great Spine that holds an audience interest. Good Luck.
I can't figure out Final Draft. I'd have to start fresh with a script with instructions on it's use. I've corrected my template which is a piece of plastic taped over my screen with margins. So hopefully that solved or better. It's now, I'm I overwriting the action lines? In theater it's real simple "entrance, exit, moves center, ect....." is it this incomplete? Does a little dressing of the action or making it exciting?

Happy slashing. Knowing you have a problem is the first step to recovery. :)
Nice! Overwritingitus is one of the biggest killers of spec scripts out there.

I found this link helpful when thinking about dialogue: http://www.writeyourscreenplay.com/2014/07/24/how-to-write-great-dialogue/

Got it and 2 others. Read her workbook. Agree with her 2 parts of the 2nd act. Got to read the book this week now that I have the time.

Watch YouTube tutorial. It is a very easy program to use. I have used it since 2002.
