MOLLY
By Preshia McNair

GENRE: Romance
LOGLINE:

A kind but lonely woman in her mid-thirties battles her insecurities and her family’s constant pressure to “find someone” until a chance encounter one night forces her to confront what real love—and real self-worth—actually look like in the modern world.

SYNOPSIS:

Molly McNair, 32, is a kind-hearted grocery store clerk whose life has become a loop of small talk and takeout dinners. Her father gently nags her to “find a man,” her coworkers tease her about dating apps, and her weekends drift by quietly in a one-bedroom apartment that echoes with absence.

One night, Molly reluctantly agrees to meet friends at a small bar, where she meets Evan, a shy but warm music teacher with the same soft awkwardness she hides behind a smile. Their connection is instant but uncertain—two people afraid to hope for too much.

As their relationship develops, Molly wrestles with her own sense of worth. Her father’s voice in her head reminds her she’s “running out of time,” but Evan sees her differently. Through laughter, long walks, and moments of vulnerability, Molly begins to rediscover herself—not as someone incomplete without love, but as someone finally ready for it.

In a bittersweet and heartfelt final act, Molly’s story becomes a mirror of the 1955 classic Marty, reimagined for modern womanhood: a celebration of quiet people who still believe in connection, and a reminder that sometimes the hardest person to say “yes” to is yourself.
