THE 12TH JUROR
By Preshia McNair

GENRE: Thriller / Suspense, Mystery
LOGLINE:

When a quiet young woman is called for jury duty on a gruesome murder trial, she’s shocked to discover the defendant is her former lover—and as the evidence unfolds, she realizes she was part of the crime herself. Now, trapped between guilt, fear, and discovery, she must keep her secret buried before justice finds her first.

SYNOPSIS:

When Porchia Maxine, a quiet, guarded woman in her late 20s, receives a jury summons, she treats it like an inconvenience—just another civic duty to get through. But once she steps into the courtroom, she’s shaken: the man on trial for a brutal, headline-making murder is Ivanny, her former lover.

As the case unfolds, Porchia becomes increasingly unnerved. The evidence—the blood patterns, the timeline, the mysterious “second suspect”—all start to feel hauntingly familiar. Through tense courtroom scenes and fragmented flashbacks, Porchia pieces together repressed memories from the night of the murder. She begins to realize the horrifying truth: she wasn’t just close to Ivanny—she was there.

Meanwhile, Prosecutor Marshall Raines receives a string of mysterious calls from forensic analysts. A partial DNA match hints at a second suspect. By the third call, the full report comes in—the DNA belongs to Porchia Maxine.

In a chilling courtroom climax, Raines locks eyes with her across the room as the realization hits. The walls close in, the jurors gasp, and Porchia bolts for the door. Chaos erupts. The final shots capture her fleeing through the courthouse as officers swarm behind her—a haunting question lingering in the air: how do you judge guilt when it’s sitting on the jury?
