GENRE: Historical, Thriller
LOGLINE:

Abandoned by her father, husband and lover, the queen of an ancient kingdom sacrifices her soul for immortality, to wreak vengeance on king and country. Adapted into a 7-part graphic novel - available through Amazon.

SYNOPSIS:

In 9th Century BC, Phoenician priest-king Ethbaal spends every waking moment communing with Canaanite fertility gods, leaving priestess-queen Nehushta, to groom young princess Jezebel in the ways of pagan worship.

Fifteen years later, Ahab and Ethbaal, two power-hungry kings from religiously opposing nations, form a political alliance under the guise of an arranged marriage. Ahab weds Ethbaal's reluctant daughter Jezebel, despite fire-n-brimstone warnings by the great prophet, Elijah.

After the ceremonial dust settles, Elijah's foretold famine grips the holy nation. Jezebel's refusal to submit to Ahab or his God, Yahweh - is not only compounded by her contempt of the Samarian dust that works its way into her skin, but her mounting hatred of Yahweh.

But a new crown brings with it a welcoming distraction - the king's chief-commander - Jehu. Both loyal and virile, his conquering sword is Ahab's first line of defence, until Jezebel proves to be Jehu's achilles heel. Nursing the long-held grief of his mother's demise by Ethbaal's sword, Jehu's 'armor' begins to erode.

Besotted with his queen, Ahab builds her a temple to satisfy her whims and to house her fertility gods. In turn, she bewitches the weak-willed Ahab with the promise of great power if he would embrace the gods. Myrrh wine soothes Jezebel's soul, but the hallucinations that come with it serve to fuel her vengeance and insatiable lust for power.

At the temple's completion, a night of celebration turns to depravity. Ahab's holy council are slaughtered like lambs by Jezebel's Baal worshipping high-priests - while underworld spirits are evoked to reap their souls. And like a spider spinning its web, Jezebel seduces Jehu into her bed and into her heart.

Jehu awakens to a palace littered with the slain. Fighting off Jezebel's web of seduction, he flees the kingdom in search of Elijah's wisdom - desperate to save the holy nation from sin.

Abandoned by Ahab in favor of war games, Jezebel burns with scorn. To help her accelerate the kingdom's spiral into wickedness and glean eternal rewards in the afterlife, Jezebel seeks out her sagacious magi - but his age-worn wizardry only serve to fuel her wrath.

Pregnant and drunk on myrrh, Jezebel writhes on the stone floor, under Asherah's watchful bronze eye. Hell-hath-no-fury-like-a-woman-scorned. Hearing Jezebel's wails, the goddess Asherah manifests in a spiral, wipes away Jezebel's tears and dispatches her spirit straight to Hades' gates - the destined path set for her. But without the obligatory sacrifice to appease the gods, Jezebel is rejected, yet again.

Jezebel gives birth to Jehu's son, before sacrificing her own soul for immortality - plunging Samaria into darkness. In the Judean wilderness, Jehu is reunited with both his long-lost father, Nimshi - and Elijah, who anoints him as rightful king.

Consumed with wrath, the whore of Samaria cuts-down Nimshi with her chariot - before steering it to the Jordan River to intercept Jehu and Elijah and reap the 'old heretic's' soul. Shrouded by divinity, Elijah slips past her black web and is lifted to heaven aboard a celestial chariot. In a divine exchange, Elijah's mantle flaps down to earth, empowering Jehu - who re-joins the war against the Syrians and slays Ahab - as mandated by God.

Jezebel targets Jehu's soul and entices him with riches and power, before leaving him at the mercy of underworld beasts. Jehu overcomes every temptation and returns to the ivory palace, where Jezebel baits him with the son they share together. So she was telling the truth!

Jehu offers her redemption - on the condition she would renounce her gods. In her quest for supremacy and possessed with unspeakable evil, Jezebel conjures demons to destroy him. Jehu calls on God and is given a glimpse into Jezebel's transmutation into a queen of damnation.

To avenge the blood of God’s prophets, Jehu hosts a celebration for the high-priests and baits them with a supreme sacrifice. As they inch forward, Jehu tips-out the contents of an ivory box. Jezebel's severed head and extremities tumble out. Pandemonium ensues. On Jehu's cue, soldiers burst in and reap the jewel-encrusted high priests.

Jehu lifts his son, Ahaziah into his arms, catches a glimpse of light piercing a thunder cloud. Could it be Elijah, in white robes, streaking across the skies - aboard a magnificent chariot drawn by flaming horses?
