In the sleepy town of Middleton, Ohio, a lonely woman living a beige existence has her life take a fantastical turn when she discovers a feisty, foul-mouthed fairy in her coffee cup. This discovery ignites a journey of self-discovery, reconciliation with an estranged daughter, and the vibrant hues of life she thought she lost forever.
SYNOPSIS:
The story starts as we view Flora’s life. Flora leads a lonely and monotonous life in Middleton, Ohio, stuck in beige; literally and figuratively. The color dominates her attire, apartment, work cubicle, general outlook, and the number of contacts on her phone (one—her estranged adult daughter, Iris).
We then view her daughter Iris’s life in L.A. Iris works in her father’s successful department store. Her swanky lifestyle is also colorless but in the trendy, monochromatic tones of Black, White, and Grey. Upon inspection, we see that Iris’s life is quite superficial, void of any real connection or love.
One day, Flora's life takes an unexpected turn when she discovers Tink, a spirited, foul-mouthed teenage FAIRY, in her coffee cup. Tink’s disruptive presence not only adds a dash of chaos to Flora’s life but also serves as a catalyst for her to rediscover her inner dancer and clothing designer, long buried under layers of ridicule and regret.
We come to learn that while Flora was still in high school, her boss’s amorous advances quickly changed to cruelty and mockery. Soon Dick moved to L.A. for fame or furtune, eventually taking his daughter with him.
Tink’s presence forces both women to confront their realities—Flora’s longing for connection and confrontation with her depression and Iris’s parallel (but unique) struggle with superficiality and lack of confidence. Through humorous mishaps and heartfelt moments, Tink weaves a tale of mother-daughter reconciliation that leaves audiences wondering: Is Tink a real fairy, or just a figment of Flora’s imagination? The answer may remain elusive, but the magic she brings is undeniably real.
With a visually stunning style that mirrors Flora’s emotional journey and a narrative rich in themes of reinvention and redemption, Tink will captivate independent film lovers and resonate with women of all ages. Get ready for a vibrant exploration of personal and creative evolution told with whimsy and heart.
