Paul Hoagland

Paul Hoagland writes nonfiction, fiction, and poetry. He has developed screenplays, teleplays, short stories, and novels.

Give him a character, a topic, and an hour and he will give you a unique story in a compelling voice for your screenplay.

Through his firm AW Creative in Venice, CA he conducts various development and editing projects under pseudonyms.

When he interviewed for staff writing positions with SNL and The David Letterman Show he was told “your ideas are too dark and edgy for us”.

While working at PEN American Center in Manhattan he conducted interviews with well-known writers.

Paul earned his MFA-Writing (Fiction) degree from Columbia University in Manhattan, and his Bachelor’s degree (English Honors, magna cum laude) from University of Massachusetts-Amherst. For each degree his theses were novellas.

As a start-up and turnaround Business Coach and entrepreneur he has traveled the world and worked in many industries, including: not-for-profit, higher education, banking & financial services, insurance, capital markets, tech services, manufacturing, outsourcing, consulting, healthcare and distribution.

Paul lives in Venice, CA when working on screenwriting projects. He also has a quiet residence in Upstate New York between a large waterfalls and a small ski hill on a cul-de-sac country road.
