My experience with Zero Gravity: Query Letters

Hi, Stage 32 screenwriters.

I want to share with you my recent experience with Zero Gravity because I believe it's vital for you to not give up. As many of you know, I want my screenplay Soul Mated to be optioned. As many of you know, I sent surgical query letters, and I also sent them to ZG. They ar...

How About a Screenplay Exchange?

If anybody is interested in a screenplay exchange to share feedback with each other, I would be honored to get your impressions. My screenplay is a 99 page action/thriller. I'm the director so I'm not worried about verbs that end in "ing" or too much ink, not enough ink or any of the other minor nit...

As you work on your screenplay, what music have you been listening too?

Lately my "writing music" has included, but not limited, to the following albums:

Lour Reed, American Poet

The Jesus and Mary Chain, Psychocandy

Rimsky-Korsakov, Scheherazade

Blonde Redhead, Sit Down for Dinner

Warpaint, Radiate Like This

Igor Stravinsky, Bernstein Conducts Stravinsky

Mike Clarke

As an ADD brain, I am easily distracted, so after trying alt rock, orchestra, techno, trance, I am settling on ambient, electronica, meditative music and Tibetan bowls. I can dissappear for hours into...

Hey, Billy Kwack. That'd be messed up. I can see that scene working in a Crime, Action, or Thriller movie.

I like it, Michael Dzurak. I thought about INDEPENDENCE DAY and CLOVERFIELD when I made this post. And where's the HALF-LIFE movie, Hollywood???

Format Question

How would I write a character hearing something someone says in a conversation that they didn't actually say.

I'm not talking about subtext.

Example

Would I write it as auditory hallucination?  While the other character is talking, says something off the wall. But in reality they didn't say what the protagonist heard.

Maurice Vaughan

You're welcome, John C. Bounds.

Jeffery Mack

Depending, I sometimes just use the good ol fashioned "V.O. ((Voice Over)) parenthetical, for the person speaking. Never got any negative feed back on that : o )

Love a tactical font color change in a script Dan MaxXx. Always gets me excited

Shut Out the Noise/Negative People

There are a lot of people who say “you have to do this” and “you can’t do that” in your script. I’ve seen spec scripts from new writers and experienced writers break all kinds of rules and get optioned or sold. The only rules I follow are be entertaining and be clear/don’t be confusing. Learn the cr...

It’s been awhile since I was on here but I recently had my first pitch meeting with a MAJOR streaming service. I pitched multiple tv shows/movies. Meeting was casual and very positive. Is InkTip legit?

Has anyone ever posted their scripts to InkTip or gotten any traction after posting their scripts to InkTip? Super curious to hear anyone's experiences.

Francisco Castro

InkTip is legit. I've used InkTip, Coverfly and now, Stage32, when it comes to posting my scripts and submitting for OWAs. IMO, Stage32 is a better platform than the other two.

Rutger Oosterhoff

They only show your sctipt to producers if you are a premium member, and that will cost you arround $ 350 per year. So, NO, thanks. Took me half an hour to download my script for nothing!! It's hidden. Bollocks!!

Stephen Folker

I've known people who have had their work optioned / produced from inktip. However, they did not make much money (if any). On the flip side, if you're trying ot get your name out there, it's an option.

Joker Sequel

I haven't seen it and judging by the dismal box office opening I would say not many did. But I have read some reviews including an article that was a spoiler for the ending. The first Joker was a marvel and an Oscar-winner. This one was basically DOA.
