Gage Hartline, a former special operations soldier, is targeted by the French mob after he uncovers a set of diaries written by Adolf Hitler's Jewish lover.
SYNOPSIS:
GAGE HARTLINE boards an inter-Europe flight. After his PTSD-inducing accident, he’s sworn off violence. A male passenger becomes violent on the flight and Gage subdues him. We now have no doubts of his ability.
Next, Gage sees his psychiatrist, a convicted felon who practices under the table. He clues us in on Gage’s mental state.
In Paris, a wealthy couple is home-invaded by the head of the French mob, NICKY ARNAUD, his counselor MARCEL CHERBOURG, and their mobsters. Nicky’s cruelty, and Marcel’s reluctance, are on display as the couple is brutalized. All is not well between Nicky and his top man, Marcel.
In Frankfurt, Germany, Gage meets JEAN JENOIS, a crooked French DGSE (French equiv. of CIA) agent. Jean hires Gage for a low-level job, bugging a German federal building under construction. During the job, Gage discovers/takes a cache of diaries.
Marcel meets with Jean, who also does side work for the mob. Marcel claims Nicky is upset with Jean over a past task Jean didn’t execute. Marcel informs Jean he is now in the mob’s debt, thereby connecting their motivations.
Gage reads the diaries and realizes they were penned by a young Jewish woman, GRETA DREISBACH, in the late 1930s. Hiding her heritage and desperate, she is victimized in her efforts to land a job as a maid. It is soon revealed she will be the personal maid for Adolf Hitler. (These diary scenes are voiced by Greta and depicted in sepia flashback during each episode.)
Jean Jenois learns Gage took something valuable from his surveillance job. Jean puts Gage under surveillance, which Gage ditches, thus increasing Jean’s suspicion.
The episode’s climax comes as Gage and his lover, MONIKA, read the diaries together, learning that Adolf Hitler, the world’s worst anti-Semite, sexually abused his maid who he had no idea was Jewish.
