SYNOPSIS:

Theresa Brower, a young architect in Los Angeles is hired by an architecture firm in Santa Barbara, located in a former silent film studio. Her sister, Nina, encourages her and says she, her husband Roger, and three kids, will come to Santa Barbara for Theresa’s birthday party. The ghost of a Hispanic actor, Antonio Moreno, appears and helps Theresa get hired. She is given the task of completing the restoration of the building. While studying blueprints she notices there used to be a small room on the south wall of the building. Antonia causes mortar to flake off a wall and Theresa discovers a hidden room, which contains a cache of 1920s film canisters, a projector, and theatre seats. Antonio appears and shows Theresa a movie starring Mary Miles Minter, a famous young silent film star who got her start at the Flying A. Ms. Minter congratulates Theresa on finding her soulmate. Theresa notices the electric cord of the projector is not plugged in, freaks out, and escapes the room. Theresa phones her boss, Jasmine, and they take one of the old films to Professor Isaac Wilder, a film conservator at UCSB. Theresa realizes he is the man she had a crush on in college. After the meeting Jasmine scolds Theresa for flirting with Professor Wilder. Professor Wilder and his team of assistants come to the architecture office to pick up the other film canisters and Theresa leaves early to avoid seeing Isaac. Isaac follows Theresa and she tells him how she found the room, and that an old movie actor led her to the discovery. Isaac doubts the story but tests the invisible actor, who answers all his trivia questions correctly. Theresa says Moreno has been sent to help them get together, because they're soulmates. Isaac says he can't date Theresa because he’s recently broken up with his fiancée. Jasmine warns Theresa to stay away from Professor Wilder, and says he’s engaged. Theresa texts Isaac to invite him to her birthday party, which is held at Theresa's next-door neighbor’s house, a woman named Annzolee. Nina, Roger, their kids, and dog drive up from L.A. for the party. Theresa kisses Isaac goodnight and goes to her house. Antonio causes Theresa to drop her house keys and an arrow misses her and embeds in her front door. Antonio tells Theresa that her boss is trying to kill her, but she doesn't believe him. The next day, Theresa and her sister's family have a picnic on the beach, and she invites Isaac. Isaac and Theresa play tennis, and on the hillside overlooking the courts, Jasmine watches them with binoculars. She prepares to shoot another arrow when Antonio scares her away by temporarily transforming his chihuahua dog into a cougar. Theresa and Isaac go to dinner and Isaac asks her to marry him. She says it's too early for Isaac to be asking her to marry him, and that they should get to know each other better. Obsessed with breaking up the romance because she wants Isaac for herself. Jasmine fires Theresa but Antonio shows up and brings the ghosts of the Flying A Studios to frighten Jasmine. She runs screaming from the building and ends up in a straitjacket at a sanitarium. Theresa receives large checks from the Moreno estate. Theresa and Isaac spend more time together. Isaac once again asks Theresa to marry him, and she accepts. Antonio shows up at the wedding reception and tells Theresa she's going to have twins.
