Hey Stage 32 community,
I wanted to get a quick pulse on how everyone is approaching networking in the industry — but first, let’s break the ice. Feel free to drop a fun fact about yourself. I’ll start.
I’m passionate about mental health and currently working on a mental health-centered transmedia project. It includes funny, relatable content, mindful audio, and soon, journal prompts and affirmations. My goal is to support healing — not just through screenwriting, but through various forms of storytelling and content that can uplift and connect.
Now about networking — we all know how much this industry relies on relationships. Whether you have a friend who’s a writer, an actor in the family, or know a producer, I’d love to hear what your network looks like right now and what you're doing to build it.
As for me, I’m being honest — my current screenwriting or LA network is close to zero. Right now, Stage 32 is my network, and honestly, I think it’s a great place to start. My main focus has been rewriting my first feature screenplay, building my portfolio, and really learning the craft. I haven’t taken many networking steps yet, but I’m starting to open up to the idea and figure out what feels organic and aligned.
So I’m curious:
• What does your current network look like? How are you building it?
• Are you focused more on craft or connection?
• What’s worked for you so far in meeting the right people? Are you attending meetups? Cold DM’ing? Film festivals?
Wishing everyone a strong Thursday. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.
– Ryan

I also write psychological thrillers — that’s awesome! If you don’t mind me asking, what’s your screenplay about? Is it a feature? Definitely let’s stay in touch, I’d love to bounce ideas around sometime.
