With the rise of Harley Quinn, comes the fall of Gotham City’s underworld...
SYNOPSIS:
Gotham is Gotham. With the rising of the sun comes some semblance of a city and order. But when the sun goes down, it’s a goddamn free-for-all. And from across the water, the Squire wants in on the action. He’s sent a team, led by none other than the man who almost killed Batman, to bring down the gangs of Gotham.
Mr. Sidney Debris has a plan. He knows if his boss wants Gotham, then he needs the right hand of God—or the next best thing—Harley Quinn.
Unaware of all the machinations going on around her, Harley is consoling a despondent Joker: Batman chose to crash a fight between gangs over his robbery. Keeping the two of them from Robin and the police, Harley takes the opportunity to once more propose the idea of them being partners...she finds herself booted from a moving vehicle.
Given some time to herself, she heads to an old nightclub in the depths of Gotham— she’s been there before—and she’s made a friend or two. Sid’s man, the Swede, crashes the party: the Squire wants an audience with her. She threatens to blow everyone to bits—her time away is always short-lived.
Harley heads home. A couple of grenades and a stun gun deal with the men who think to follow her.
Joker greets her with breakfast—something’s wrong with that. But a day of destroying Stromwell assets makes her forget. A day to remember. But there’s a call: Roscoe’s been caught by this squire—obvious trap. But Joker must have his man back...
Boom. An assassination attempt lands Harley in the hospital, near death.
She recovers under police guards. Joker doesn’t come for her, the Swede does—after having returned to the nightclub for Harley’s friend, Lilah.
In a wine cellar, the Swede makes a call. Joker finds out Harley has friends, and he’s happy to leave her situation to them. The Swede brings a battered Lilah out. Demands Harley give up the Joker, or else. She refuses... Harley is left alone with Lilah beaten near to death—and a recording of another phone call. Over and over, she hears what Joker really thinks of her—a toy—a joke that is no longer funny...
With the fortuitous appearance of Mr. Sidney Debris, Harley gets her friend to a hospital—the phone she takes with her too.
With Lilah stable and lucky to be alive, but possibly to suffer brain damage, a furious Harley takes to streets, venting her anger and frustration—finally faced with what Joker really thinks of her, she makes the decision.
After one last rampage, she confronts Joker. He tries to appease her, but his words fall on deaf ears...
Harley turns herself in at GCPD headquarters.
