By Mitchell Irion

GENRE: Comedy
LOGLINE:

A pious African-American preacher must embrace those he once scorned after he is swallowed by a gigantic fish and expelled in a Las Vegas sushi restaurant.

SYNOPSIS:

In a holy twist of fate, a righteous African-American preacher from a struggling LA church receives divine orders from a sassy old prophetess Naomi – head to the one place he absolutely loathes – Las Vegas! But doubting Naomi's divine inspiration, Reverend Wesley Jonah embarks on a cruise in the opposite direction.

Once aboard, Jonah's attempt to capture a snapshot of a Korean couple goes haywire when a rogue wave knocks him overboard, leaving everyone convinced he is fish food.

Local news stations report an enormous tuna caught off the coast of California. This news catches the ear of Las Vegas kingpin Ricky Heart, who seizes the opportunity to capitalize on the media attention by purchasing the celebrated fish. When the tuna arrives at the hotel’s sushi restaurant, Ricky discovers he received a whole lot more than he bargained for. To the surprise of the Sushi chefs, a bleached white, slimy, stinky, and alive Reverend Jonah slides out. Thinking he is having a terrible nightmare, Jonah runs through the Bellagio Resort screaming with chefs and security giving chase until apprehended at the front entrance. Seeing the publicity, Ricky decides to have Jonah as his special guest. Pressed by the media to provide a statement, Jonah pronounces a “40 days to The End” prediction for Las Vegas, which causes many to believe that Jonah is just another crazy fanatic.

Jasmine, the church's beautiful and talented piano player, along with Naomi, rush to Las Vegas to join Jonah, where the trio turn the city upside down with a Vegas show-style revival like no other.

Reverend Jonah’s skyrocketing stardom becomes a blessing and a curse, testing his tenuous relationship with Jasmine while Ricky Heart exploits his fame. Jasmine worries his success might lead him astray. Ricky's plans blow up when the Las Vegas mob gets involved because they see that all the other business are plummeting, forcing him to cash in his chips with Jonah by portraying him as a fraud and womanizer.

Dumped by Jasmine and locked away in a gloomy jail cell, Reverend Jonah hits rock bottom. Forced to confront his self-righteous behavior by Naomi and a hardened street girl, he is revived with a new spirit.

Jonah surprises everyone with a generous display of giving and acceptance that disarms his accusers and wins back his beloved Jasmine.
