SYNOPSIS:
In the year 2025, global warming has affected drastic change in weather patterns throughout the World. Sea levels have risen faster than anyone had predicted and have threatened all coastal towns and cities beyond measure. Sadly, all nations are still in denial of our planet’s inevitable demise. Al Gore, now 77 years old, having been revered as one of the great futurists of our time is missing; assumed to be underground, in hiding at a secret location in protest at the lack of responsibility and acceptance from all governments in the world in dealing with our planets misfortune. George Tansen, one of the richest men in the world, is leaving nothing to chance. He has built three space ships on one of his private islands in preparation to leave this earth while he waits for confirmation of data from his “mole” inside N.A.S.A. on the possible existence of another planet similar to our own. He also plans on kidnapping the seventy five guests on another one of his islands adjacent to where his space ships are housed, who think they have won a free vacation on the false pretense that they have done something in their lives to reduce the carbon footprint on our planet. Edwin P. Hubble’s great, great, granddaughter Helen Borden, and her husband Kevin, have both previously worked for N.A.S.A and left because of politics and red tape. They are brilliant astronomers and astro-biologists that have managed to tap into the N.A.S.A. telescopes and discovered a new “Super Earth.” It’s called “Super Earth” because it is three times the size of our own. Tansen's mole, Max is aware of the Bordens findings and suggests to Tansen to convince them to join his team. The Bordens refuse as their allegiance is still with N.A.S.A. until George decides drastic measures must be taken and now is the time to leave this world. This screenplay placed as a semifinalist in the 2010 AAA screenwriting contest.
