Every person lives in this world with unique circumstances and points of view. We all experience the feelings of loss, pain, grief, joy, happiness, loneliness, and love. Our perception and situations are unique to us. With all the routines, schedules, and mundane tasks in our day-to-day lives, we go about life taking care of our needs before that of anyone or anything else. From time to time we feel empathy for those living on this world with us. The analogy “to walk a day is someone else’s shoes” can cause a change of heart and mind for many. It can open our eyes to something we’ve never known or understood. Sometimes as we see or experience the life of another; whether it be a story of triumphant or stories of tragedy, these points of views tantalize light onto issues that those of us caught up in our daily lives may never know even exist.
Every person on this earth has a story. As an artist and filmmaker, I strive to bring about these stories. And for some, these stories change lives. It is a human need to feel connected to one another. If something I can create, whether it be written, directed or shot by me, can change someone else’s perspective on life than I feel I have done my job both as a filmmaker and a human being. Real change happens when enough people get passionate. Film and media, and the people that bring those stories to life hold power beyond what they know is possible.
