Leaving Soon follows Nick, newly sober and barely holding his life together, as he cares for his sharp, artistic younger sister, Cari. When an old friend introduces Nick to a mysterious underground casino promising fast money and “clean” work, Nick takes the risk — unaware he’s stepping into something far more dangerous. As the night spirals, Cari is abducted, and Nick quickly becomes the prime suspect in the eyes of a cop who has never trusted him. Trapped between criminal power structures and law enforcement, Nick is forced to confront the parts of himself he’s been trying to outrun. The proof-of-concept short captures the inciting events of the series, establishing a world where recovery, crime, and family collide. The larger episodic story expands into an ongoing exploration of redemption, surveillance, and the cost of trying to change in a system that profits when you don’t.
