SYNOPSIS:

In the not-too-different future of 2040, in the largely unchanged woods of CO, 60 year old ADDIE trudges down the hallway of the cutting edge Cancer Center to visit her dying husband. Her withered features and failing posture give away more than she’d like, but the smile she adorns before greeting WILL speaks volumes. She’s a lover. A giver. And for the past three decades, she’s given everything she has to her family. In fact, she’s neck deep in their free-spirited daughter, ELLA’S, wedding plans. Everyone’s praying Will lives long enough to walk his daughter down the aisle. With Addie’s loving touch, he just might. Knowing her mom is stretched lean, Ella takes matters into her own hands by inviting wedding planning backup to town in the form of her mom’s oldest friends: VAL, TIPPI, and CELESTE.

While searching the attic for her mom’s wedding dress, they find a box of Addie’s old love letters from MAKOTO: the Japanese exchange student who was Addie’s first love. Forcing her mom and friends to go down memory lane, Ella realizes how the mighty have fallen. Addie used to be vibrant and full of fire, as we see when we’re hurled back to the 90’s for her first crush, her first kiss, her first...education. Ella wonders who this tired, moth-eaten woman in front of her is. Addie’s friends plot to bring back the goddess they loved.

With each vivid flashback, the spark in Addie’s eyes increases. Yes, she used to have dreams of being a writer. Yes, she was intoxicated by other cultures and wanted to travel the world. That’s right – she would put a man in his place if he misbehaved. Now, with Will on the mend, and her closest friends by her side, life is looking up...until Ella bursts into Addie’s first spa day in years to announce she’s called off her wedding. She’s realized Love sucks the life out of women. Case in point: her own mother: the withered goddess, truly loved by not one, but two phenomenal men - yet somehow she lost herself.

Terrified to befall a similar fate, Ella, in a salon rallying cry, throws her engagement ring away. After saving the ring, Addie slides down a shame spiral, tormented by the fact she has failed as a woman and a mom. With both women searching for answers, it’s Love that lifts them. Will takes his daughter down his own memory lane to show Ella her mother hasn’t lost her spark - and never will. Val, Tippi, and Celeste help Addie pick up the pieces by reminding her of the warrior she was - and can be again. Addie faces the truth with Ella about love and sacrifice and admits: in her many roles (mother, wife, caregiver) she may have given too much away...but she got heaps in return.

With the ceremony back on, Addie uses her renewed gumption to create wedding miracles. She and Will dance in each other’s arms for the first time in years. Shortly after, Will passes, and Ella’s belly pops out with her upcoming baby. Addie is once again faced with a choice: be SuperGrandma, or follow her own dreams. She kisses her daughter and the baby bump goodbye. Wind blowing through her hair, she drives head on into her potential, because it’s never too late to live your own dreams.
