SYNOPSIS:
Tom Glasby is a young man living in the United States in the 1970s. Everyone in the country is
suffering from long-term memory loss, which is why they have to keep diaries on a daily basis and
write down everything happening to them. Tom works in a diaries thrift store, a place where people
can pawn their diaries, whereas curious readers can buy them. There, he finds a diary of a girl,
Linda, where she describes a poignant love story. With him.
Tom is looking for any mentions of Linda in his diaries, but can't find anything. Obsessed with the
idea to find Linda, Tom begins his search. First of all, he heads to his sister Alice, who lives in a
dissidents' settlement. Alice is a member of a dissident commune, they deliberately keep no records
and live "one day at a time". Tom asks Alice about evocative drugs, but she talks him out of this
idea. She tells Tom about their memory training program whose key point is a long medicated sleep
to get rid of all the memories.
Tom continues his search and heads to the Information Support Center. There he finds a newspaper
clipping with a photo of Linda standing in front of her house. Having searched half the city, he finds
it. Posing as a Linda's classmate Tom talks to her mother and finds out that Linda has moved. Her
parents drive to visit their daughter, Tom follows them and finally sees Linda. It's a love at first
sight.
Turns out that Linda's married, but Tom, obsessed with the idea to see her, starts coming to her
house every 7 days, so that she has time to forget him. Every time he's a new man for her. Once he
introduces himself as a lost driver, then pretends that his car has broken down. One day he dresses
up as a house renovation worker, but instead of Linda, Joe, Linda's husband, opens the door. Tom
tries to leave, says he's got the wrong address. Joe suddenly tells that it's the right address and he
has actually expected someone from a house renovation company. After some hesitation, Tom
agrees to do some work, hoping that he might get a chance to learn more about Linda.

smooth in their marriage. Tom and Linda become chummy after getting stuck in the storm. Linda

is in a panic. He calls Alice, she tells him to put Linda on an IV. Tom puts her on a drip, packs her

doesn't know what to do. Tom can't see the road through tears and almost gets hit by a car. He stops
the car, calms down and decides to go back. Pulling up to the house he sees that there's no one there.
Linda's gone. He walks into an empty house and falls on the bed.
In the silence he hears someone entering the house. It's Linda. She tells Tom that she's told police
that she's asked Tom to give her those pills and she's refused to press charges.
Linda reads Tom's diary where he's been writing all the story about Linda. She tears one page out
and burns the diary, then walks to the bedroom, wakes Tom up and gives him a sleeping pill.
