THE STUNTWOMAN

THE STUNTWOMAN
By Hakeem Pashini

GENRE: Thriller / Suspense, Horror
LOGLINE: Hired to impersonate the paralyzed US President using a hyper-realistic mask, a desperate, struggling actress becomes intoxicated by the power and orchestrates a ruthless silent coup to permanently steal the leader's life—only to realize she has locked herself in a gilded cage.

SYNOPSIS:

Act I: The Mask When ruthless President Greer Davenport suffers a stroke on live television, her ambitious Chief of Staff, Elias, refuses to invoke the 25th Amendment. Needing a temporary puppet, Elias recruits Janet Miller—a desperate, impoverished actress facing eviction who is fighting to support her young daughter, Lily. Elias forces Janet into a gruesome, classified procedure where a heavy, translucent silicone mask is glued to her face, transforming her into an exact replica of the President. Thrust into the terrifying world of the White House, Janet must perfectly mimic the cold leader while the real, incapacitated Greer watches bitterly from a secret medical annex. Act II: The Flesh Janet proves to be surprisingly adept at the role. During a public crisis, she abandons Greer’s callous political playbook and shows genuine empathy, causing the administration's approval ratings to skyrocket. However, the physical and psychological toll of the deception becomes unbearable. The industrial adhesive of the mask causes severe chemical burns, leading to a horrifying fugue state where Janet violently claws the silicone off her face, destroying her own skin in the process. Unable to wear the mask again and threatened with losing her daughter if she quits, Janet makes a devastating choice. She destroys her own ID and submits to "Protocol Zero"—a permanent reconstructive surgery that physically alters her face to match Greer’s forever. Act III: The Usurpation No longer wearing a disguise but permanently trapped in "warm, living flesh," Janet attends the G20 Summit in Berlin and dominates the world stage with a ruthless confidence that eclipses the original President. Upon her return, the real Greer—now physically recovered—attempts to reclaim her life and secretly banish Janet to a black site via Executive Order 12-Alpha. However, Janet uses her newly acquired leverage and Greer's own executive order against her. Recognizing Janet is the superior "machine" for the presidency, Elias defects to her side, and the real Greer is secretly sedated and permanently removed by military contractors. The Ending: The Gilded Cage Janet has won the ultimate power, but the moral cost destroys her. When her daughter, Lily, is brought to the White House, the child recoils in terror from Janet's new face and cold demeanor. To save Lily from the horror of the fraud, Janet psychologically "kills" her motherly persona, telling the crying child her mother is gone before weeping uncontrollably in private. In a final, chilling twist, Greer’s husband Mark reveals he knows Janet is an imposter—but he prefers her to his real wife. Using Lily as leverage, Mark refuses to let Janet confess, trapping her in the marriage and the presidency, leading her by the hand into the dark.
