This production adds two unique elements - a new role added, and live original music on stage. The story is a family drama of debt, insanity and hope, set during Easter week 1905. Strindberg, Sweden's perhaps most celebrated playwright, could not help but write autobiographically. To investigate this, we add a new role to this production: Strindberg's alter-ego, speaking the original Swedish text and experiencing his madness, guilt, incestuous desires. There are many humorous and inventive ways to interact between the two stories of the play - the characters and the author - and the audience. The second major novelty we bring is live music. Strindberg wrote in music by Haydn between the acts, and we are instead supporting up-and-coming musicians to compose new themes, inspired by Strindberg's original idea. Venue: A church, between Highbury&Islington and Dalston. Atmospheric old church-come-performance venue, half derelict, half restored, old mosaic work, bare bricks, basic theatre lights and sound system in place, great potential to make it our own and do with it what we like. Seats 100-150 depending on what formation we choose to do. Dates: Preview/Fundraising run of four nights 18th-21st April. The purpose is to invite potential sponsors and interested parties to raise money for a longer run later this year, with Equity pay. This first run is unpaid. It will be short and sweet, focussing on making those four nights as great an event as possible for the audiences. It is not just a show, it should be an event for the audience to come to, a launch party for the theatre company From Scandinavia with Love. We have a unique show. There are many circles and interest groups to draw an audience from and we could have a sold-out four nights with really interesting industry people in the audience. Performances: 18th-21st April. Show starts at 7.30, doors open at 6.30 for snaps (Swedish alcohol) and chocolate easter eggs and mingle. Interval at 8.30 for 15 min, show ends at 9.45. Rehearsal times: Day time rehearsals in April: 5th-7th, 9th-15th April. That is 10 rehearsal days, all during the Easter break. We are looking for Production Crew Unpaid opportunity with aim to put on paid full-length run at later date. Today, I discovered a bug with the way this option is set for new users. I just wanted to let you know that the bug is now fixed, so all members are now able to receive private messages from any other member (the default setting). If you'd like to receive private messages only from users within your network, you can change this setting here. Hey Diane, We're very proud to bring to the Stage 32 community an exciting and exclusive event: Rex Pickett - My Life on Spec: The Writing of Sideways. This 6 part series explores the twisted, obstacle filled path Rex travelled while nurturing Sideways from conception to screen. Rex's tale is alternately inspiring and heartbreaking, filled with the highs and lows, the self-doubt, and the paralysis associated with surrendering control of your talent, which should be relatable to any artist. We thank Rex for this exclusive series! It's a gift to the entire Stage 32 community. The intro to the se...
