A family man receives a call out of the blue from an 'independent contractor' who has heard that he is looking for a way out of his financial difficulties by killing his heavily insured wife. But who passed on the information and can you ever really trust a man who kills for a living?

A young girl living with her sister and alcoholic father, is driven to sell her dead mother's jewellery to pay for her sister's school dinners so that it will appear to the outside world that the family are coping since her mother's death. However, her grief-stricken father's violent over-reaction when he finds out what she has done sets off a chain of events which will eventually lead to his death.

A petty criminal finds himself in a difficult situation when a crime boss' young son is kidnapped on his watch and he gets the blame. As the boss' beautiful wife blackmails him into helping her negotiate with the kidnappers directly, against the wishes of her husband, he starts to question his former relationship with her and whether she knows more about the kidnapping than she is letting on.
