SYNOPSIS:

“We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are.” - Anais Nin

When an alien A.I. with immense power is sent to Earth on a mysterious mission, it finds the dead body of the most popular girl in school and camouflages itself by morphing into her.

She is soon discovered by the two boys who loved her most. Despite the enormous risk she presents, they decide to protect her from a secret government agency determined to have her at any cost.

Doppelgänger is a science fiction episodic series that takes place in a rural Louisiana parish, rife with teenage angst, racial division, and the unique culture clash of Southern living against the slow creep of modern technology.

The tone will be fast paced and dramatic, but with the dark comic edginess of shows like STRANGER THINGS and RIVERDALE. Adolescent characters finding themselves alone, at odds with authority, standing between alien invasion and dark government forces, fighting for the future of the planet.

The two young men who are protecting ASH, the physical embodiment of their dead girlfriend, are definitely not friends. They each had a unique relationship with Ashley before she died. JAY, an introverted African-American, nerdy in a very quirky way, had a secret crush on her. She adored him as well, trusting him with her deepest secrets. Their friendship was special, but he always wanted more. WILL was her jock boyfriend, the kind of guy the prettiest girl in school should be dating. She was a cheerleader and he was a football star. He was in love with her, sharing physical intimacy, but not her heart. In truth she loved them both.

An alien spaceship, seemingly a meteor, crashes into earth just after Ashley’s vigil. An A.I. escapes the crash site, on a surveillance mission for some greater alien force. Looking for humans, it stumbles upon the rural funeral home where Ashley’s vigil was held. Ashley is still in her coffin. It approaches her, reaching out and touching her dead body. The A.I. begins to replicate dead Ashley. When it’s completed, Alien Ashley walks out of the funeral home, totally naked, and continues her mission.

Jay, depressed by the loss of Ashley, goes looking for the meteor with his friend, but finds Alien Ashley walking naked down a dirt road. They can’t believe it, but it is soon clear that this isn’t Ashley, but something else, with none of her memories or human knowledge. She is really just an advanced computer absorbing data and information. But she looks exactly like Ashley. Jay can’t help but fall for her all over again.

They take her back to Jay’s house, unsure what she is or what to do with her and decide to call her Ash, short for Ashley 2.0. Ash discovers Ashley’s old cellphone and scans it for data, incorporating info from Ashley’s voicemails and photos and videos, her SnapChat and Facebook, everything it can find. She in a weird way becomes Ashley, the voice, the mannerisms, the laugh and the walk. She knows things from the phone, like who everyone is and how she felt about them.

Will shows up to confront Jay about his relationship with his dead girlfriend and discovers Ash. He is in shock, but again, he’s in love with her and she knows it.

Things are just getting started. The Men in Black have shown up looking for the alien spaceship and whatever was on it.

Jay and Will must form an alliance to protect Ash as they both continue to work out their feelings for her and vie for her affections.

The series becomes a cat and mouse game between Ash, her two boyfriend protectors, and the dark government forces looking for aliens, led by a relentless government agent that will do anything to find her, control her or even chop her up to see what makes her tick. That is what this show will be about.

Ash gets stronger and stronger, more sophisticated, as she gathers more data about Earth and its inhabitants. Her powers become obvious to Will and Jay, but also to the forces after her.

Is she an evil alien bent on destroying the world as they know it? Or is she Ashley, the girl they love? Is she both?

Doppelgänger is a thrill ride through the teenage lives of the kids trying to protect her and the swamps of Southern Louisiana. It will be sexy and wild as she explores her newfound humanity with the two guys Ashley used to love so much. It will be scary as her power and the intensity of government lust for it get stronger and stronger.

There is one more element that could change everything, a secret. Ashley was pregnant when she died. And the replication of her body created a womb with a baby inside. The fate of that fetus could change the future of humanity and have repercussions far beyond our world.
