About Fernando

I'm a Producer / Director of documentaries, TV series (studio based & live broadcast), feature films, and TV commercials.
Most recently I was Head of Production in the Content Department at TVE RS, a public TV network in Brazil. Duties included developing new formats, and producing and directing series. I worked alongside the Head of Programming managing teams of internal producers and crew.

In 2013 I received a grant from the Brazilian Ministry of Culture to produce the short film Mariana no Outono (Mariana in the Autumn), which I also wrote and directed. The film is currently in post production. I was also Director of weekly commercial segments for a candidate during the Mayoral campaign in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

In 2012 I attended the Cannes Film Festival to promote award-winning short documentary Um Ballet Dialogo (A Ballet Dialogue). I was Producer of the film, which was selected at over 30 national and international festivals. The film was produced by production company Avante Filmes, who also produced independent feature film Beira Mar (Sea Shore), on which I was Production Manager. Beira Mar is currently in post-production.

In my career I've worked on fifteen short films in various roles including director, writer, producer, editor, DoP and AD, giving me an exceptionally diverse skill-set and an expansive understanding of the mechanics of production, from an artistic, technical and commercial overview.

I've recently moved to Auckland New Zealand, bringing the prism of a Latin American individual with an accomplished international tv & filmmaking career, and a fresh perspective on New Zealand culture.
