Maria Monte de Rey is a California Association of the Deaf, Media Chair since 2007. She has served an advisory member under Secretary of State Voting Accessibility Advisor Committee (VAAC) since 2006 - 2016. Since Year of 2000 being the Deaf writer, she had taken Seminars of Scriptwriting for film, television, and Screenwriting Expos. She taught at Toronto International Deaf Film & Art Festival (TIDFAF) TV/Film scriptwriting workshop: Do & Don’t business of scriptwriting 2009 also in 2013, she taught Deaf & Hard Hearing kids in three high schools and one adult workshop in Canada.
I am the chair of the California Association for the Deaf Media Committee (CAD Media). The mission of the committee is to serve as liaison between the Entertainment industry and the Deaf community, and advocating for awareness of issues relating to Deaf people and the industry such as the visibility and authenticity of Deaf people and American Sign Language in Film, Stage, Screen and print media. Our main goal is to cultivate and foster strong relationships between the Deaf community and the industry. Our mission is in alignment with CAD's mission: to preserve, protect, and promote civil, human, and linguistic rights for all Deaf Californians.
