"REPTILE DYSFUNCTION"

"REPTILE DYSFUNCTION"
By Ken Droz

GENRE: Animation
LOGLINE:

In an all-reptilian world, nightclub owner Harry Skink learns to navigate under the oppressive thumb of mob boss King Komodo and his alligator goons, while also dealing with the club’s glitzy defective clientele, and maybe most challenging, Harry’s own damaged family. The majority earth toned creatures dominate society here while the more brightly colored reptiles are less respected, relegated to the bar’s rear section. Labeled, “COLORED ONLY.”

Along with the pilot script, a full series bible is also available for review, with a pathway to a multiple season arc.

SYNOPSIS:

The SKINK FAMILY, an unpredictable clan of misfit lizards, has for years run a nightclub called The Swamp, the hottest night spot on a tropical island. Led by patriarch HARRY SKINK, an affable but feckless bearded dragon, the club has thrived from its large clientele of assorted snakes, lizards, turtles and other cold-blooded creatures. While good natured, Harry is an often careless lug, whose drinking, gambling and womanizing sets a lousy example for the rest of his damaged family.

Wife TRIXIE, a neglected, albeit vain and self-absorbed blue tongued skink, helps Harry run the place, putting her atop the local social scene. A crown hub to a spectrum of colorful characters, literally and figuratively, The Swamp draws celebrity athletes, entertainers, news anchors, star attorneys, and the groupies chasing them all, plus society's underbelly of drug dealers, hustlers, gamblers, wannabes and never-weres. You know… like Hollywood. Except combining the nefarious traits of earth’s slimiest manipulative creatures with those of, um, reptiles.

From the club's gecko chef that licks his eyeballs every morning, to poor Bal Boa, the lonely, loveless constrictor who on three different wedding nights accidentally squeezed his brides to death, The Swamp could serve as a virtual Grand Central Station of a psychiatric waiting room. Even the congenial bartender Eddie sells drugs on the side, with stock of everything from weed and cocaine to steroids to birth control pills and chemotherapy bags.

Mixing human personality disorders with a plethora of reptilian characteristics, this show allows unending potential for comic clashes in an accepted absurdist society, portrayed via the freedom of animation.
