SYNOPSIS:

Latina scientist Alma works for B.O.D.L.I.A. a research company in LA. She doesn’t know it is an acronym for ‘DIABLO’. She invents a teleportation device. A rose loses its scent when she teleports it so she won’t teleport a human until she figures out the problem. Her boss BLAKE, Diablo’s earthly representative, threatens to kill her father if she doesn’t teleport a human guinea pig held captive. She refuses and uses the teleporter on herself to escape the research station only to find her father already dead. Blake murders the human guinea pig and frames Alma for the crime. To add to her troubles she teleports into Helen’s apartment, a supposed friend, only to find her husband in bed with her. Then she stumbles into a drug deal and steals the dealer’s money before vanishing. On the run she turns to Gitano, a gypsy friend to help her. It just gets worse for her. Now she discovers that when she teleported, her soul and her body became separated. Diablo has her soul in Hell. A talking Virgin Mary statue tells her that with the loss of her soul she will become an evil person and when she dies she will go to Hell for eternity. Alma and Gitano narrowly avoid capture by Blake after a mad dash through town. She has to use all her scientific expertise to beat bugging devices used to find her. Gitano has to use his street savvy to help her. Alma manages to find an entrance to Hell and with Gitano they go on a quest to recover her soul before it is too late. They’re captured by Blake. Here she discovers that a living person’s soul has never before been captured and it creates a mighty force away from its host. Diablo has managed to lock it in a device that diverts the huge power into a cannon, enough to destroy the ‘Pearly Gates’ and unleash the Horde on Heaven. Blake tries to force Alma into teleporting Gitano so they can capture his soul too and speed up breaking into Heaven. Alma manages to trick Blake and she and Gitano escape. Alma realises the only way to stop Diablo taking over Heaven and Earth is to sacrifice her life. Her soul would be just another soul of a dead person and no longer powerful. Gitano tries to stop her sacrificing herself. She gets herself shot by the drug dealer she stole from and dies in the arms of Gitano. Because she is dead her soul, locked away in Hell, explodes its way out and returns to her body leaving carnage in Hell and ending any chance Diablo had of destroying Heaven and Earth. The angel Gabriella comes for her spirit and soul and takes her through the clouds towards Heaven. But her selfless sacrifice has touched Heaven and Gabriella receives orders to take Alma’s soul and spirit back to her body and she lives again. A year later and with a baby born to her and Gitano she meets Blake at LA Zoo. He threatens her. She zaps him with the teleporter now fixed so souls and bodies don’t separate. He’s dropped in the alligator pool and eaten.
