I worked in commercial theater production for many years and learned a lot about story development. I had a few great mentors, the most prolific was the late film producer David Brown. David was a witty and respectful story expert who dabbled in theater on the side. We co-produced for a few years and he offered to mentor an original film script for me with the warning that the industry “moves at a glacial pace.” I received invaluable script feedback in the seven years I knew David, and learned more about story development than any class could teach. I took some years off to be active in family life and death. Today I’m reinventing myself, and my focus is on medium, and where my skill fits in this demanding new Century.
