For a long time now I've been doing what I "should' be doing, career-wise and not doing what I want to be doing, what I need to be doing - writing. I finally decided to use the VA benefits, and I'm enrolled in an MFA program for screenwriting.
This is not intended as a hobby, this is how I hope to make my living, pay my bills, get ahead in life, and if I'm lucky, enable me to move to Santa Fe.
I am not interested in producing or directing, I just want to write. This is an "end" not a "means".
I don't want to make films, I want to write movies. I don't need to prove that I'm smart/intellectual/deep or whatever. I have zero interest in illustrating Mankind's existential sorrow over the death of God, or chronicling the struggle of some obscure poet against the terrible unfairness of something or other. I want to write MOVIES - spaceships, giant robots, pirates, sword fights, and lots of things that go BOOM! Epic romances, incredible odds, daring heroines, impossibly good-looking heroes, tension, plot twists, and still more things that go BOOM!! Mysterious villains, evil plots, vicious aliens, brave astronauts, daring escapes, huge CGI armies, and even more things that go BOOM!
Unique traits: Really likes things that go BOOM!
