Hi Judy! Great intro. I've just moved to LA and also love being surrounded by passionate, creative people when I'm working on a film or television project. Inspired to know there are others feel the same.

Stephen Wise

Nice to see you here, Judy. I need to share a story with you. When I was in 5th grade, "The Waltons" showed their episode "Day of Infamy" in which Mary Ellen's husband was killed at Pearl Harbor. The...

Judy, I loved The Walton's back in the day. On a recent trip to LA, I got to tour the Warner Brothers lot. It was a fantastic experience.

Ian F. Hunt
Cinematographer

Just signed up, hoping to hear from fellow Cinematographers. The last year has been mad to say the least, worked on 20+ short films and documentaries, student films and commercial projects since graduation in 2014. Not worked on a feature yet but hoping one comes my way soon.

Ian F. Hunt

Hi Debbie thanks for the compliment. I've worked on most this past 2 years, a 30 second commercial and a 60 second drama. Hoping to work on a feature soon.

Debbie Croysdale

Thanks. I'm compiling list of (small projects) professionals , from South England area.

Ian F. Hunt

Add me to your list Debbie and best of luck with your project.

You will have a happier, smoother day on a scripted show if the very first thing you do at the beginning of a scene (or day) is block through the scene with the actors, in front of the crew, so that everyone can see exactly what's going to happen.

If you just say (or write down) what's going to happ...

A directors book advises to get the first film shot of the day done as early as possible. It makes it real for all so they roll up their sleeves & begin the day's Momentum.

Brian Shell

Actually, I think that quote/idea may have come from "Masters of Light" - with insightful interviews from influential cinematographers.

Brian Shell

Another bonus of getting the first shot of the day done early is that it gets recorded for the film studio's bean-counters... you got to work on time... or better yet, early.

Watford Gap is a trick for the unwary and unaware to make them think they've gone farther south than they have, when really they're still in Northamptonshire. Don't fall for it and, meanwhile, nice to see you here, Martyn!

So, Mr Starnes, we meet again. But this time, the advantage is mine. Bwahahaha! [insert dramatic music] Just kidding. See you soon :)

Don Starnes

My life is a lot like one of those action pictures. Except that the villain is usually a producer and the tag lines aren't nearly as clever!

Keith Jefferies

As long as the producer/villain carefully outlines their whole diabolical scheme before sending you to your doom, it's a win

Keith Jefferies

Hello, Bill! Thank you for the connection. How are things in Scotland?

Keith Jefferies

It's sunny with a hint of more sunshine to come. Just moved to LA, so pretty much everything I know is based on Steve Martin in LA Story

Keith Jefferies

Hi Marcelo! Thank you for the connection. Why only two desert island movies?
