BETRAYAL OF THE NIGHT (SCREENPLAY COMING SOON)
By Mike Randazzese

GENRE: Science Fiction, Horror
LOGLINE: Erik died for 90 seconds. In those 90 seconds, he learned life is a simulation. A game played by sadistic, alternate versions of ourselves. Only he wasn't supposed to remember....or survive.....

SYNOPSIS:

Erik died in his sleep. He is revived moments later, dismissing the experience as a terrible nightmare. He didn't go to heaven. He didn't go to hell. Life is revealed to be a simulation. A video game played by ourselves thousands of years into the future. When our life ends, the game is over. Our creators (The Players) start a new game, a new life. We are just characters in a video game with a conscious, controlled by an advanced version of ourselves who see us as characters and sims. They are the player, we are the sim. His death was a glitch. It wasn't supposed to happen, but when he was brought back - the memories of this future reality never faded. A rare occurrence. A big no-no to The Players. The memories become more vivid. The awareness of what life and death really is becomes too overwhelming for him to handle. He thinks of all the amazing people who suffer every day and how awful our world is. How their Players must be sadistic to put them through such misery. The lack of connection, emotion - knowing we are all just entertaining characters and sims to them. Erik wants to end that. He wants to send them home. Sending them home in our world means killing a bunch of innocent people. But to Erik, life doesn't exist. Neither does law, or repercussions. Mass murder may as well be mass healing. The problem is that The Players see it as a fun challenge. A challenge that won't be much fun for Erik.....
